UPCOMING EVENTS:  Oct. 10 and Nov. 14 we will again offer Gift Bags in conjunction with the normal 50/50 raffle. Tickets are sold 3 for $1.00 or 15 Tickets for $4.00. We hope you will support our scholarship program. (If any of you have some nice knick-knacks or useful donations to make for the Gift Bags, they would be very much appreciated - give them to either Rosa or Kay.)             Maybe you want to have lots of time to prepare for a Halloween Costume, just to remind you that we are planning again to make this Saturday October 31st a special night again, a Halloween Party with lots of fun and prices for the 3 best costumes. That is also our Cake and coffee night.     Since Veteran’s Day Nov. 11) will be in the middle of the week, let’s celebrate it ahead of the time on Nov. 07. Remember for those of you who have guests for Thanksgiving holiday, bring them to the dance with you on Nov 28, married or single. If you want to share your holiday left-overs with your table, feel free to do so. Just bring your plates, utensils, etc. and make it your own little party with your family and/or friends.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Chairperson Sally Schmidt reported at our September 16 Board meeting that Richard (Rick) Martin was the only Candidate for President for the ASC, to date. Nominations off the floor will still be accepted from qualified persons up to October 17th which will then be presented at the October 21st Board Meeting. The nominating Committee consists of 5 ASC Club Members, Chairperson Sally Schmidt, Marilyn Benevento, Don Crawford, Connie Bauer and Mary Holt.

PRESIDENT’S NOTE:  I very much want to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful members for their generosity to their club. Zak (Dr. Zakaria), you were very thoughtful and generous in donating of one of your lovely paintings to raffle off with the proceeds to go to our club’s scholarship program. You are making a huge difference in these single parents’ lives. Thank you, Phil Foran, for thoughtfully donating the potato chips for the Labor Day festivities. My appreciation to Sally Schmidt for donating her time to be the Chairperson for our nominating committee and for Marilyn, Mary, Connie and Don for accepting to serve on the Board with her. Also, for all those members who bought cakes for our cake nights and for all of you who help us out. Each and everyone of you make a huge difference. So, THANK YOU ALL

 

 

 

 

 

MEMBERSHIP: Annual Membership fees $35.00  

 

 

 

 

 

The Membership Chairperson is available between 6:45 and 8:15pm every Saturday in the Lobby for your convenience to renew your membership before it expires, and for prospective members to complete an application. If you wish to renew your membership by mail you may send your Membership Card and a Check for $35.00 payable to “Adult Singles Club” and send to: ASC - JoAnn Bottrell P.O. Box 434, Osprey, FL 34229-0434 She will mail your new card upon arrival.

 The following persons are applicants to become a member David Ribaldo, William Grant, Elizabeth Conard and William Fowler.    Your official membership card is available in the lobby starting October 03, 2009.

General Information

ADULT SINGLES CLUB OF SARASOTA/MANATEE CO. INC.                                                         

As our name indicates, we are a Singles Club. To be allowed to attend and/or to join you must be either:  Never Married, Divorced or Widowed. If you meet a person at our dance, you have the right to assume they are single. However, we do have Alumni who attend as guests; they met while they both were members of our club, married, and now continue to dance with their friends.

ENTRANCE TABLE: The doors to the ballroom open at 7:00 PM. Please have your (up-to-date) membership card ready to show to the person who is collecting the donation (Members $ 7.00, for Guests - $ 10.00) If you arrive after 10 PM, you must see the person in charge of the concession stand. No one is allowed to get in free.

BOARD MEETINGS: For 2009 will be every month on the 3rd  Wednesday Place: Gulf Gate Library, 7112 Curtiss Ave. Sarasota, FL. 34231. Board meetings start at 6:00pm, board & members’ meeting starts at 7:15pm. We encourage the members to attend, either to observe or to discuss a particular topic. However, if you need to have a discussion, please notify the President Kay Parker.

Members: Anytime you bring a new male guest, (one who has never been to our dances before) you as a member, will be admitted free for that evening.

BIRTHDAY CAKES: Will be served the last Saturday of every month before the raffle ticket numbers are announced. We celebrate everyone’s birthday for this month. Please respect people whose birthdays are in this month to be served first. Birthday-Month-Members will be admitted free for this evening only, show your drivers license and your membership card please. No rainchecks if you miss this date.

SCHOLARSHIP: Please remember to support our scholarship fund by buying raffle tickets. It is very difficult for single parents and need our help in financing an education within the medical science field at the Manatee Community College. Raffle Tickets are being sold at 9:00pm.

PHOTOGRAPHY: On special occasions and also by special request, Rosa will be glad to take your picture.  It takes a week for processing, and to cover the cost we ask for $1.00 per print.

DRESS CODE: We take pride in our appearance: Ladies wear: Nice Dresses, or Dressy Pants Suits.  ( Short Skirts more than 4 inches above the knee, including slits, are not permitted. )

Gentlemen wear: Suits with or without ties, dressy shirt, Sport Coats with trousers. ( Knit shirts without a collar are not appropriate.) Not allowed: Jeans, Shorts, T-shirts, Tennis Shoes, Flip - flops or slides. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to anyone not complying with this code. Members - don’t forget to tell all your single friends about our dances. What our Club is all about

We have one of the finest Adult Singles Club with dances every Saturday Night from 8 to 11pm. (Free Dance Lessons from 7:15 to 8:00). Freestyle Dancing with Live Music, some of the best Bands you can find, such as Mario DeLeon Orchestra,  Mellotones, Pleasure and Harmony. We have about 275 Members. Dances are held at the Payne Park Auditorium 2100 E. Laurel St. Sarasota, FL. 34237 Adm. $10.00 (Members $7.00)    Directions: From I-75 Exit 210, take Fruitville Rd. West about 4-1/2 miles to Washington Blvd. (which is 301) turn left (south) and go 5 Blocks to Laurel St.  turn left.
